My Son Jack
He’s a Character for sure! While I’m working on my business, taking phone calls, the boys are generally downstairs doing their school work. Ineveitablly, Jackson is still doing his schoolwork long past the time I officially get “off work”. Mostly because he can’t stop thinking about everything else but school. He plays with the cat, he wanders around the house talking to who ever is or isn’t there. Literally he will spend all day on one math problem.
My oldest son, on the other hand, is extremely self-motivated. He will get everything done long before lunch time. He doesn’t really like some of the school work, but he’s always been smart about getting the stuff you don’t like done first and quickly. Of course, this makes Jack even whinier than usual, because he thinks his brother has less or easier work. When in reality, Roger just focuses and finishes.
So, my idea to keep him focused is to bring Jack and his schoolwork into my office. This way, he’ll be right there with me, and I can keep him from wandering around the house or playing with the cat. He’s not really thrilled with this arrangment, but I think soon he’ll get the hang of motivating himself to get the work done.
Now, that I’ve set up the scene, I can tell you WHY I’m mentioning all that. LOL! Here he is, My son Jack, is sitting at his desk, supposed to be working on his school work. But of course, something popped into his over-active brain, and he HAD to tell me about it. This is how the conversation went.
Jack - Mom, do you remember that game adventure quest?
Me - Yes
Jack - Well I was thinking that…
Me – stop, no talking about toys, games, or anything but school. This is a school zone only area.
Jack – laughes a little and then says – Attention attention this is a loading and unloading brain only zone, all others will be towed.
Ok, maybe it’s one of those “you had to be there” sorta funny things. I was laughing, he was laughing.. it was cute.

I have those kind of conversations with my boys all the time. Neither one of them can stay focused on their school work for very long. Their minds are constantly somewhere else.
I love the fact that they are thinking and have such vivid imaginations but I would also like it if they would.just.get.their.work.done.
Thank you for advertising with me today! Have a great day!
