Single, Homeschool & Dating

Three words I thought I’d never see together and three words I never thought would describe me… at least not all at the same time. And yet, 11 years ago that’s where I found myself. My youngest wasn’t two yet and my oldest was barely 4. So maybe in the beginning there wasn’t a lot of actual homeschooling being done, but it certainly was my intention. There I was barely 26, two small boys, and getting a divorce. Dating and homeschooling weren’t really first and foremost on my mind at the time, but it wouldn’t be long. I got to meet Kelly McCausey from Profitable Mommy Blogging the other day and she interviewed me for her podcast.  I had a wonderful time talking to Kelly and learned a lot from her about blogging.  You’ll notice some of the changes on my website were mentioned and suggested on the podcast.

She is going to be interviewing Mommy bloggers every week from around the Blogosphere.  They’ll be talking about blogging, montetizing your blog and much more, as well as having some great articles and information on the blog site.   So take a look at the blog and listen to the podcasts!

Mom, I Think Walmart’s Sexist.

After seeing this Walmart Commercial my son Jack came to me and said, “Mom, I think walmart is sexist”.

Me “Oh? Why do you say that?” I hadn’t seen this particular commercial. He was upstairs watching TV.

Jack, “Because on this commercial they had for halloween. All the costumes that the mom pulls out for boys are super heroes, and all the costumes for girls are princess (which he says with a lisp, btw)ones. Why don’t they have super hero costumes for the girls? Or Doctor costumes. See, they are sexist.”

Me, “oh honey, you just gave me my next blog post!”

This must have worried him a little because he went upstairs and then came right back down and said… “hey before you blog about that, maybe we should rethink it. I mean maybe walmart isn’t really sexist?”

Me “Too late”

Jack “WHAT?!?! You blogged already??”

Me “no, I twittered about it” I did too… really fast!

Jack “But mom! What if walmart sees?”

I guess it was probably a good thing I didn’t tell him some of my twitter friends are the Walmart 11 moms!

Kids! If nothing else, they are great for blogging!
