Wright On Time Utah by Lisa M. Cottrell-Bentley
About The Book
Announcing the second book in a series about an RV living homeschooling family. Each month brings the Wright family to a new state with a new educational theme to explore and play with. They prove that learning can happen all the time, anywhere, and that being with family is fun! Meet Aidan Wright, age 7: Boisterous and joking all the time, this sporty boy knows how to have fun! Meet Nadia Wright, age 11: Curious and fiery, this intellectual girl can always find out answers to even the most difficult questions. Meet their parents, Harrison and Stephanie: Ready to take their kids on adventures of a lifetime. Meet Prince Pumpkin III, turtle extraordinaire: This 50 year old little guy is holding on tight, as the family RV and mysterious device take him on an adventure no turtle has ever gone on before. Explore a dinosaur dig with the Wrights as they roadschool in Utah. What will Aidan and Nadia discover about the mysterious device they found in Arizona? This series is Wright on Time.
My Opinion:
I was approached by Lisa M. Cottrell-Bentley to review her first two books in her series of Wright On Time books. Of course as soon as I heard that she was a homeschooler, writing books about and for homeschoolers, I nearly jumped out of my chair! Of course I would be thrilled beyond belief to review these books! I’m always thrilled to review books, even the ones I don’t end up liking, but when I DO like the books, well that just puts the cream cheese icing on the cake! And these books are the best of that cream cheese icing for sure! If you want to see what I thought of the first in the series, Wright On Time Arizona, you can read it at my Books4Moms Blog. This series is definitely one that all homeschoolers are going to want to support and own!
The second book in the series, Wright On Time Utah, is as good as the first book. This time the Wright family is in Utah exploring a Dinosaur Dig, as well as trying to learn more about the mysterious object they found in Arizona in a mine. Luckily their parents have friends who study or work in all sorts of industries who can help them not only learn about every subject you can think of, but will also help them figure out what this mystery object is.
The children in the book are very likable kids, smart, curious, and well rounded. Very much like most homeschooled kids I know. Which is a wonderful thing to see in any medium for sure, because all too often the homeschoolers are the butt of some joke or derogatory statement on some show or in a book. In the Wright On Time books, we have great examples of what homeschooling can be like! Although my sons may be too old for these books (reading age range is between 9-12, though some older and certainly most younger kids will like them!), I highly recommend them to any and all homeschoolers! I will definietly be keeping an eye out for the rest of the series… there will be 50 total.
Another great thing about these books is the website. At the Wright On Time website you can not only find more information about the books, including when the next one will be available, but you can find a lot more! There are coloring pages, character bios, Nadia’s (the Wright’s daughter) blog, games, lapbook ideas, and so much more. These are not just fun to read, but they are fun to interact with!
