Spring Break?
My sons are counting down the hours till “Spring Break”, which is going to be next week. They are going to be spending the entire week with my mom, because they need some “pampering” and no one does that better than Grandma… and Grandma needs some strong young men to help her around the house right now too. heh! Roger, who “goes” to Odyssey Charter High School, has an actual spring break. He doesn’t have “class” or course work next week, and won’t be going to P.E. But Jack, who is using Time4Learning for his curriculum doesn’t HAVE to go on break at any particular time, or at all for that matter. But I’m letting him not do work next week so he and his brother could do stuff together… like fight over who has control over the T.V. and computer.I think it’s kinda funny though that they are both “counting down” till spring break because they aren’t really getting a “break” from anything. Even though they won’t be doing any school work, it’s not like they are “going” to school every day. So what are the getting a break from? Even Roger, who does go to campus once a week, and P.E. twice a week, it’s more a socialization experiment than actual school. And he’s been “done” with his school work for the last week, so not having MORE work to do next week isn’t going to be any different from this week!
I guess, even homeschooled kids like to have their school year broken up, even if nothing really is going to be different for them. Yea, my boys will be at grandmas next week… but even that’s not too different. There’s been plenty of times they’ll spend a week over there, and continue to do school work on line at my mom’s house. So this won’t really be any different. Except that we’re calling it “Spring Break”. LOL!
So I was just wondering how many other homeschoolers out there are taking next week, or some other week off for Spring Break? Are things really very different in your house during this time? Or is it just the kids perception of how much work they are doing? Maybe you go on vacation during this time? Let me know! Whatever you do or don’t do, I hope everyone is having a beautiful spring! Except for the last couple of days, it’s been gorgeous here in Vegas!
