Are You Really Surprised?
Is anyone really surprised that a nation with compulsory government education would one day require compulsory government healthcare too? – Spunky HomeSchool
This is a question posed on a Facebook Friends status, which was passed around from one homeschooler to another. And it’s so very true. Are you really surprised that this is the way our nation is going?
On Spunky HomeSchool’s blog I found some other interesting things that have been going on with our President and his ideas of how to raised and educate our children. Take a look at these two posts, Obama Takeover of Education & the New Obama Based Education. We know that the government doesn’t really like the idea of homeschooling. As homeschoolers we’ve all dealt with the “system”, even indirectly, and how they view our parental choices. But this idea of the government “tracking our children from birth to career” is a little scary. Anyone see the movie or read the book 1984? Big Brother!!
When I was growing up my mom sent me to private Christian schools just to keep me “out of the system”. She didn’t want the government to know who I was or what I was doing. If she had known about homeschooling she would have done it. As it was I was partially homeschooled because I was sick so much of the time that she had to keep me out of school, so she either brought my school books home or she bought some of them herself. Now, it doesn’t matter if your kids go to public or private schools, and in most cases it doesn’t matter if you’re homeschooling, the government does and insists on knowing who your kids are, at the very least.
Here in NV, we have to fill out an Intent to Homeschool form. It’s good for the entire life of your childs educational years, or until you move or change schools (like charter schools), but the government still knows who your children are and what they are doing. Even if it is limited. Although I don’t agree with a lot of what the HSLDA says and does, I’m beginning to think the idea of not registering my kids at all ever was a better idea. Paranoid as it sounds, After reading so much about Obama’s ideas of education, and more and more starts happening with his Big Brother socialist programs… I’m wondering if dropping out of the system and off the grid would be a good idea.
And it doesn’t start at “school age” either! Well, at the current school age at least. Obama wants to implement a national mandatory preschool as well!! His idea is to “prepare our children for kindergarten”. umm.. HELLO!?! Prepare them for learning ABC and 123??? Seriously? Or prepare them for learning the mindset of the helpless victim that needs the government to take care of them from cradle to grave? After all the government knows best, right?
As homeschoolers we should all be totally against this health care reform, because it’s just the first step towards the government taking over every aspect of our lives. He’s already got his sights on education, and homeschooling is NOT within the realm of his ideals. The government can’t control what our children are being taught, if they are being taught at home. And if they aren’t controlling what they are being taught, then they can’t make sure they conform to being taken care of by the government.
What am I doing to try and stop all of this? First and foremost, I”m voting out everyone who voted FOR the health care bill. Which means all of the democrats in office, at least in my state. There were 34 Democrats that voted NO on the bill, so you might want to check out how your representitive voted here. Then find out who is running against them in this years mid-term election. There’s also a website set up to help gt rid of Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. We just need 40 seats to do that!
But to do all of this, we need to remember all of this through November!! We must keep our momentum going for 8 more months! So my goal is to keep these things fresh in our minds. I’ll be blogging on all of my blogs about the education issues, health care, and all the other victim programs that Obama wants to set in, to try to keep everyone remembering that this is NOT what we want for our country. November is our time to get our voices heard! If we fail in November, there are other things to do, but right now, we need to keep our sights on voting as many of these people out as possible! Reid is definitely one of them I’m voting out, and Rep. Berkley is another one. Below are the people I’m backing in November. If your in Las Vegas, NV, and you agree with me, these are the people to look to! Lets take back our country!!
Sue Lowden – Running for Senator against Reid
Michele Fiore -NV State Assembly Las Vegas District 9
Mike Montadon – Running for Governor of NV (He homeschooled his children for a while)
Others Running in Nevada:
Tibi Ellis – NV State Assembly District 5
Jodi Stephens – NV State Assembly District 32
Mikle Dillon – NV State ASsembly District 26
Kris Munn – NV State Assembly District 21
I will update this list as I become aware of more Nevada candidates!
