Are You Really Surprised?
Is anyone really surprised that a nation with compulsory government education would one day require compulsory government healthcare too? – Spunky HomeSchool
This is a question posed on a Facebook Friends status, which was passed around from one homeschooler to another. And it’s so very true. Are you really surprised that this is the way our nation is going?
Review – Rand McNally Boredom Breakers

Recently I was asked to try out and review these new products by Rand McNally called Boredom Breakers. They are Rand McNally’s answer to how to keep kids entertained during a long (or short) road trip. As you may have seen, Last month we took a trip up to Northern Nevada that took us about 4 hours one way to drive. When I found out about this product to review we were planning on making that trip again in the near future. However that trip was changed to taking a trip to Cheyenne, Wy. This trip will be a 12 hour drive. Even my teenagers, who have always been really great on long trips, will need something to do! These Boredom Breakers will be a life saver…. for them more than me.
At a Loss For Words?
Maybe it’s because the word you’re looking for is no longer in the dictionary?
According to Save The Words.org
” Each year hundreds of words are dropped from the English language. Old words, wise words, hard-working words. Words that once led meaningful lives but now lie abandoned and forgotten. ” Read the rest of this entry »
Review – GIFTED HANDS: THE BEN CARSON STORY
I usually like the movies and original series that TNT produces, which is why I was elated when I was asked to review this movie. I decided to review it here on my homeschooling site because, although it is not about homeschooling directly, it shows the same values that we all hold. It shows a mom who “homeschooled” her sons while they were going to and failing at the Public schools. It was because of her non-tradtional way of teaching them and pushing them that made her son Benjamin Carson that great man that he became.

Ding Dong The Courts Were Wrong
Or something like that… I feel like singing “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” from the Wizard of Oz because of the ruling IN FAVOR of Homeschooling in California. It’s a good celebratory song, but it doesn’t quite fit. ANYWAY…… for those of you who haven’t already heard, it is STILL legal to homeschool in California. Read the rest of this entry »

Review of K12 Cyber School
I am a single mom of two boys, ages 13 & 11. I have homeschooled them their entire lives, in various styles. I work full time, only recently being able to work out of my home, so the public charter school was the best way for me to continue to homeschool my children and be able to work full time. I hope this review of one of the charter school options that is out there will help you in making your decision on the best way to homeschool your own children. In my opinion, there is no “best way” to do this, there is only the best way for your family, and that often changes as your children grow.
