Free Resource – What About Penmanship? A Guide for Homeschooling Parents
I just found this great free resource! It’s a guide for homeschoolers on how to choose the right penmanship to teach our children and how to go about doing it. I know how hard it can be to figure out how to teach cursive. There are so many different types of penmanship styles, it gets a little confusing! Luckily, this will answer some of those questions and make things a little easier for you.
Website Review – A Child Writes
I found out about this great website on Facebook. I think it’s a great site for anyone with kids, but I can definitely see the wonderful opportunities for homeschoolers. This is not just a “pen pal” type of social networking site for kids, it’s also a charity program that kids can get involved in and win some cool prizes. Here’s what the site says:
Spring Break?
My sons are counting down the hours till “Spring Break”, which is going to be next week. They are going to be spending the entire week with my mom, because they need some “pampering” and no one does that better than Grandma… and Grandma needs some strong young men to help her around the house right now too. heh! Roger, who “goes” to Odyssey Charter High School, has an actual spring break. He doesn’t have “class” or course work next week, and won’t be going to P.E. But Jack, who is using Time4Learning for his curriculum doesn’t HAVE to go on break at any particular time, or at all for that matter. But I’m letting him not do work next week so he and his brother could do stuff together… like fight over who has control over the T.V. and computer. Read the rest of this entry »
Are You Really Surprised?
Is anyone really surprised that a nation with compulsory government education would one day require compulsory government healthcare too? – Spunky HomeSchool
This is a question posed on a Facebook Friends status, which was passed around from one homeschooler to another. And it’s so very true. Are you really surprised that this is the way our nation is going?
Summer Family Field Trip
This month my family is going on a little trip to The Great Basin National Park for a weekend field trip and star party. Steve has a nice sized telescope and we’ve been to star parties before, but never at one of the darkest places in the country. So this should be amazing! We’re also going to be going to Lehman Caves and to see the Upper Pictograph Cave. There is really a lot to see and do up there and the National forest website even has some curriculum to go over before the trip. And the boys thought they were off for the summer! HA!

Hot Topics In Homeschooling
A while ago, I talked about wanting to write an article for the Secular Homeschooling Magazine about dealing with “The Talk” as homeschoolers. I was able to get that done, plus a short article with answers from several experts in the fields of child psychology, pediatrics, and education on several tough questions. The issue that these articles will be in will be out soon! You can order your subscription on their site. Along with my two articles, there will be others tackling tough issues such as sex, death, controversial types of homeschooling and a lot more. Read the rest of this entry »
