Yes!  I have been waiting for something like this to happen… I’m sorry it couldn’t be on my website, but I’m happy to pass it along where it’s at!

This is a new blog to me but one I have decided to subscribe to none the less.  I happened upon this cute homeschooling blog by way of another blog that I subscribe too (isn’t the internet fantastic!!!).  And there it was, the giveaway for a full year subscription to Secular Homeschooling Magazine.

Now, if you’ve read my blog before, you know that I’ve written a few articles for SHM and have touted its spectacularism (is that a word?  It is now!).  Luckily one of you great, wonderful readers can win this subscription by heading on over to “The Homeschooled Year” and doing whatever it is you need to do to win (leaving a comment, following her on twitter, subscribing to her feed, etc. ya’ll know the drill!).

A while ago, I talked about wanting to write an article for the Secular Homeschooling Magazine about dealing with “The Talk” as homeschoolers.  I was able to get that done, plus a short article with answers from several experts in the fields of child psychology, pediatrics, and education on several tough questions.  The issue that these articles will be in will be out soon!  You can order your subscription on their site.  Along with my two articles, there will be others tackling tough issues such as sex, death, controversial types of homeschooling and a lot more. I’m a mom of two boys, one is 14 the other is 12.  They both have been going through puberty for a while now.  A long time ago, when my oldest was starting to ask questions, I got him a couple of books that helped both him and I with the whole “TALK”.  My oldest has always been a little more shy about talking about his feelings, and certainly more so about sex.  But the books that I bought helped quite a bit.  My youngest has never been shy about anything though.  His way of talking to me about things like sex has always been by confessional.  No we’re not Catholic, he’s just weird.  One of the things he confessed to me about was some of his sexuality.  That is what has prompted me to write an article for Secular Homeschooling Magazine about Sex Education and the Homeschooler.  If they don’t accept the article, then I’ll post it here.  However, just in case someone is interested in some of the books that I bought for my sons, you can see them below.  I’ll let you all know one way or another if my article is in Secular Homeschooling Magazine and when the issue comes out with it.
