Some of my best memories are playing games with my family, both when I was a child AND now that I have children.  Some of my favorite games to play as a kid where Yahtzee!, Scrabble, Uno, and Trivia Pursuit (although I”m much better at playing Trivia today than I ever was as a kid  LOL!).  I can remember no matter how many games or hands of cards we played, I was always begging for “Just ONE more!!”  Of course if who ever I was begging gave in to my request, they’d get more begging after that game was done!  LOL!  Now, my sons are the ones begging for just one more game.  Which usually makes my mom burst into laughter and tell me it’s my “comuppance”.

With the internet comes a lot of wonderful things.  People who wouldn’t ever think that there is another person like them in the whole world, find that they are not alone at all.  I have found, that I am not the only single parent homeschooling, which I was sure that I was when I first started.  Now, I have 4 email lists that are filled with other single moms who homeschool.  We’re a small fraction of the homeschooling community, but we’re still growing too.  In fact, I just found out yesterday that a local friend had wanted to continue homeschooling when she got divorced, but didn’t know how, and didn’t know there was anyone who was doing it, so felt she couldn’t continue.  Although I live in a City of over 2 million people, we still found each other, and via the internet! Whether you voted for Obama or not, he is now our president elect, which means he will have a huge affect on our lives as citizens and as parents.  However, we do not know how his administrationn will affect us as homeschoolers.  I went scouring through the internet and posted querries to the twitterverse to see if I could find something that could give us a firm grasp at where our next President stands on Homeschooling.

Unfortunately there is little to no actual information about where he stands on this issue.  There are lots of conjectures, opinions, and speculations about how his views on education and his ties with the Teachers Union will influence his stance, but there is no actual facts backing any of these assumptions up.  So instead of reposting these opinions, I’ll post the website addresses, and you can decide for yourself if they are correct or not.  In the meantime, I will be trying to contact President Obama’s staff and see if I can get a definitive answer from them and will let you know how that goes.  And if you, dear reader, find anything that might give us all a better glimpse into our new Presidents view on homeschooling, please let us know with a comment!
